Pork-a-Palooza plans are underway for the third annual event in Weatherford, April 17 and 18.
This year, Pork-a-Palooza will be awarding a very prestigious award.
The “Oklahoma Triple Crown” will be decided by the highest total combined points for each team from three different competitions including the Weatherford Pork-A-Palooza, The Enid Hanor Smokin' Red Dirt, and the Sulphur City of Springs event.
This pays $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place. There will be a traveling trophy which will have the winning teams name engraved on it. The trophy will stay with the winning team for the duration of a year.
Each team is scored in each of the four categories: Pork, Chicken, Ribs and Brisket.
Each team entered is ranked, and the highest two scores win. For full consideration of the trophy and the money, teams are suggested to enter in as many contests as possible.
The “Oklahoma Triple Crown” was established to encourage more teams to enter in these contests and expand the familiarity of Pork-a-Palooza in Oklahoma.
